Hello…I’m

I bet you’re wondering about my background and what makes me tick. We’ll get to those things, but let’s talk about you for a minute.

Maybe you’re here because you’re like my client, Mike. He works in a significant organization (a company you’ve heard of), and he wants to move up the org chart. Leveling up his ability to develop the people around him would make that easier.

Mike knew he needed to work on himself, specifically 1) self-awareness/understanding, 2) leadership skills and 3) interpersonal abilities. We started a program of one-on-one coaching (with the Harrison Assessment). I asked questions, listened for Mike’s discoveries, and helped him pick out action steps that would close the gaps he saw.

Pretty soon, Mike had a new vision for his work and deeper self-understanding that set him up to unlock the potential in the people around him. By the end of our year-long coaching relationship, he was watching his team impact the people around THEM with better self-understanding and improved interpersonal skills!

How much of yourself do you see in Mike’s story? If it’s more than a little, you might be my ideal client. I love to work with leaders who want to develop the people around them.

Over my career, I’ve had many people listen to me, help me connect the dots and choose my next steps. Those relationships inform every coaching conversation I have. You can read more about a few of them in my book Coaching Hacks: Simple Strategies to Make Every Conversation More Effective.

However, maybe you’re more like my client Melissa. She’s a practicing coach, on the verge of her first International Coach Federation credential. Melissa came to me looking to be mentor coached toward that credential (which is one of the requirements the ICF includes in the credential process).

Every day, Melissa worked to develop as a coach. She knew she was on the verge of having a marketable, credential-worthy coaching skill set. Her abilities were repeatable and reliable, and she was facilitating change in her client’s lives.

We worked together in a Group Mentor coaching experience, aimed at maximizing skill development. We used several strategies, including partnering with other coaches, one-on-one conversations, listening to recorded coaching conversations and assessment as if she was applying for her credential (I’m a trained ICF Assessor).

Over our ten mentor coaching sessions, Melissa got the input she needed so she could walk confidently into her credential approval process. Also, her clients regularly thank her!

Those are two critical stories behind what I do. Coaching plays a part in the kind of leadership the world needs, I think. I want to be a part of that and have set my life up to make that happen. Coaching to develop people/leaders gets me up in the morning.

Sometimes it keeps me awake at night. I coach for three critical reasons:

  1. To discover and unlock the uniqueness in my clients,
  2. To help them achieve their potential and
  3. to explore the possibilities and actions within their reach.

In addition to my coaching practice, I’m FLUXIFY’s Director of Education and CEO. Coaching found me in 1997.  (Ask me about that story some time.)

Jonathan Reitz is a Master Certified Coach.

I’m very proud to tell you that I’m a Master Certified Coach (MCC) in the International Coaching Federation. (There are about 1000 of us in the world!)

My writing also includes the Integrated Coach Training Method, the core approach in FLUXIFY’s ICF-approved program.  I’m also a Master Trainer for the Harrison Assessment, a global leader in talent development, employee selection, and succession planning.

Here’s a page where you can get a sense of the scope of my work from several podcasts and video conversations of which I’ve been a part.

My wife Joy, daughter Julia and I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area.  Also, yes, occasionally you can find me on YouTube from my first career in morning radio and television. (There’s a great video where my co-anchor and I were talking about the sinking of the Titanic if you can find it.) My first career got me into coaching. What I don’t miss from those 20 years is all the mornings I spent getting up earlier than anyone you know.

I’d love to talk with you.

Drop me a note below and I’ll circle back to you!  (Or you can click the link in the blue section below and schedule an appointment directly on my calendar.)
